I love Taraji and always have. I have been a fan of hers since Baby Boy. I literally can recite that movie line for line. Not a lie, ask my best friend.
Taraji P. Henson is a legend in the making. Not only because she’s a very talented actress, but also because she is so real. She is true to herself and is not at all shy about expressing herself the way she sees fit.
Last night during her acceptance speech at the Golden Globes, she called out the entire industry and how black and brown folks are represented and recognized.
On Twitter last night, people were really connecting the dots. So let’s rewind and take a trip down memory lane for a bit.
As talented as Halle Berry is, she had to get a** naked to be recognized. And as brilliant as Denzel Washington is, he had to be an unethical, corrupt law enforcement officer to be rewarded.
These are not isolated incidences, they are intentional and Taraji is basically putting white folks on notice that she’s aware what’s going in on.
The shade she threw was oh so perfect, and oh so warranted, and it went over A LOT of people’s heads. Blinded by privilege much?
If you missed it, here it is.
Then, if that wasn’t enough, she continued to show her behind and made production wait while she finished her speech. “I waited 20 years for this, you gon’ wait!” I laughed so hard I almost cried and sent out a resounding “YAS.”
No one tells Taraji to wrap up. Taraji wraps up when she’s good and ready.
I am so here for Taraji and her lack of tolerance for the mess. AND she passed out cookies on her way up to the stage. Taraji P. Henson completely owned the Golden Globes on so many levels last night.
